John Harbord (J.R.) serves as a writing advisor to the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Maastricht University. In this role, he works with BA, MA, pre-masters, and PhD students throughout the academic year, assisting them with planning, clarity, argumentation, use of sources, and polishing their work. He also consults with teaching staff and administration on writing across the curriculum efforts. Previously, John served as the Director of the Center for Academic Writing at Central European University and as Chair of the European Association for the Teaching of Academic Writing.
