Prewriting, Invention, and Creativity with AI

This section explores how writers move from sparks of invention to workable drafts. Prewriting sets the stage, invention generates arguments and perspectives, and creativity allows writers to follow their felt sense into unexpected directions. Planning means scoping a project—setting goals, sequencing tasks, and mapping rhetorical moves—while organizing gives shape to that plan through structure, arrangement, and coherence. We seek contributions that show how GenAI can support these generative and structural processes without displacing human agency or originality. We also invite work that demonstrates how design thinking frameworks—empathy, ideation, prototyping, and testing—can be integrated with GenAI to expand creativity and strengthen planning.
