Dr. Cassandra “Sandy” Branham is an Associate Professor of Humanities and Communication at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach where she also directs the Digital Studio, focused on providing supplemental instruction in digital literacies.

Sandy earned her Ph.D. in Texts and Technology from the University of Central Florida in 2016, and she earned her Master’s in English with a focus in Rhetoric and Composition, as well as a graduate certificate in Professional and Technical Communication from the University of South Florida in 2012.

Sandy has played a leadership role with the development of Writing Commons since 2010. In 2017, she assumed the role of Editor-in-Chief in 2017.

Sandy’s research interests include digital literacies and new media communication, veterans’ studies, popular culture studies, and learning transfer. Sandy has published articles in various academic journals, including the International Journal of Students as Partners, Textshop Experiments, and she has published several chapters in edited collections, as well.

Student Voices

A new initiative at Writing Commons, begun in the fall 2023 semester, Student Voices aims to provide a public forum for outstanding undergraduate writing. We are open to works of fiction or nonfiction. We welcome traditional alphabetical texts or multimedia. Your submission must affirm the writing was produced as required coursework.
